Kalihi YMCA Ground Breaking

The YMCA of Honolulu is a non-profit, community service Organization established in 1869. During the 2002, the YMCA had 95,000 participants in nearly 100 programs delivered through nine branches located throughout Oahu. The Kalihi YMCA ia one of the nine branches.

Leeward YMCA Ground Breaking

The Leeward YMCA at the old sugar mill in Waipahu serves thousands of children and families in a variety of programs, including programs for at-risk teens. The Y will be expanding to add a fitness center, swimming pool, locker rooms, child watch, exercise rooms, meeting rooms and parking.
The expansion will make the Leeward YMCA a "full service" Y that will have a major impact on the community.
The new facility will support family, health and fitness, teen, and community programs. The Y is committed to preserve the Sugar Mill architecture and smokestack.
The Project will create 49 permanent jobs after construction is complete. The cost of the expansion is estimated at $10 million, including site work, construction, architectural and engineering Fees, and furnishing and equipment. A total of $5.1 million was invested in the site earlier for land acquisition and the renovation of exiting plantation-era offices.
