Objectives of all YMCA Programs
( Grow
personally - build self esteem and self reliance; gain
a greater sense of their own self worth; learn to treat themselves
and others wit respect; overcome obstacles in life so they can
reach their full potential.
( Learn
values - develop moral and ethical behavior based on
Christian principles; YMCA 4 core values of honesty, respect,
responsibility and caring; learn to define and demonstrate the
for core values in everything they say and do.

Improve personal and family relationships - learn to
care for and communicate and cooperated with their families and
friends; embrace families of all kinds and are flexible in responding
to their needs; providing a safe place to grow; help families
in need; through activities help families to get involved.
( Appreciate
diversity - respect people of different ages, abilities,
incomes, races, religions, cultures and beliefs; foster an environment
where everyone is treated wit h respect and is able to contribute
to the larger community; diversity is celebrated not merely tolerated.
( Become
better leaders and supporters - learn the "give
and take" necessary to work towards the common good; service
learning projects to give back; providing meaningful volunteer
opportunities at the YMCA and in the community.
( Develop
specific skills - diverse activities help participants
acquire new knowledge and ways to grow in spirit, mind and body;
help youth succeed in their daily lives through programs that
build self-reliance, practical skills and good values.

fun - life is enjoyable; fun and humor is essential
qualities of YMCA programs; feeling good about themselves and
