JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION:
YMCA Child Care Group Leader
GENERAL
FUNCTION:
Under
the supervision of the Program Director and Site Director, the Group
Leader is responsible to plan, organize, lead and supervise a variety
of activities for K?6 grade participants in a daily child care program;
serve as a positive adult role model; create a safe and nurturing
environment for participants at all times.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum
age of 18 years
- High
School graduate
- TB
Test
- Current
certification in First Aid
- Fingerprinting
and Criminal History Check
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Past
experience with the YMCA or related organization in the childcare
of recreational field
- Past
supervisory experience
- Knowledge
of group work methods as it relates to children
- Have
the ability and desire to develop new skills
- Current
CPR certification

other children in the program.

for planning, organizing, implementing and controlling of the group
and its activities in a stimulating and nurturing atmosphere.
- Be
sensitive to each child's needs and provide guidance toward positive
human development.
- Maintain
accurate attendance records and documentation.
- Relate
to parents, school personnel, and others associated with the program
in a positive and professional manner.
- Work
toward a team spirit and effort among the staff and children.
- Supervise
and develop leadership potential with assigned volunteers.
- Assist
specialist as designated.
- Instruct
children in a variety of activities with enthusiasm and creativity.
- Be
on time for work and meetings.
- Attend
all general and site staff meetings and training sessions and give
input.
- Be
open to criticism, suggestions and trainings from other staff.
- Prepare
and submit lesson plans on time as requested by the Director.
- Take
initiative to research and develop new creative activities to enhance
overall program.
- Assume
responsibilities for all facilities, equipment and supplies of the
program.
- Responsible
for one's own growth; willing to try new things; learn and apply.
- Complete
other duties as assigned by the Director.
