Ke ala mana‘o no nā keiki is federally funded by the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention as a Rural Youth Crime Prevention Program. Programming will be customized to meet the needs of each of the four communities that we serve. There will be two major components offered. The After School Program will offer recreation, educational support, and growth-oriented activities, allowing youth to participate when they choose. Some youth may opt for the more structured Challenge Program. This twelve-week experience will consist of regular programming and opportunities for residential camping weekends.

Ke ala mana‘o no nā keiki — helping young people choose carefully considered paths — is a project of the Kalihi YMCA. It will be based in the communities of Waipahu, Wai‘anae, Wahiawa and Waialua. Youth, ten through seventeen, can participate in an informal after school program, or choose a more intensive twelve-week challenge program, which includes residential camping experiences.
